Job Overview

The Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI) seeks a Policy Analyst to join our small, ambitious team creating research and policy products used by policymakers, regulators, and litigators in the United States and Europe. KGI operates at the intersection of technology, policy, and research, with a focus on the online information environment.

KGI’s work is designed to be immediately useful to decisionmakers. Our research synthesis informs policy debates on competition remedies, platform governance, data access, and AI. We translate rigorous evidence into actionable insights.

The Policy Analyst role is designed for an early-career professional with exceptional analytical and writing ability who is eager to make meaningful, original contributions to tech and policy. The Policy Analyst will contribute to and develop discrete research outputs and written products that translate complex technical and empirical research into clear, policy-relevant recommendations.

The Policy Analyst will work primarily across KGI’s competition policy and generative AI portfolios. This includes engaging deeply with academic literature, synthesizing evidence across disciplines (economics, law, computer science, and social science), and producing written work for policy audiences at the state, federal, and international levels.

In addition to research and writing, the Policy Analyst will help shape KGI’s policy communications and contribute to the design and execution of high-level convenings, including KGI’s annual Digital Competition Conference.

This role is distinctive in that you will:

  • Work on policy questions at the frontier of competition policy and AI policy
  • Engage directly with leading researchers, expert practitioners, and key policymakers in the US, EU, and UK
  • Operate in a small, high-performance team with increasing responsibility over time

This is a highly collaborative role with significant exposure to senior staff and external experts. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong independent judgment, the ability to work across disciplines, and a commitment to producing high-quality work on set timelines.

Applicants must submit a CV, cover letter describing their interest in the role, and a writing sample demonstrating how they have analyzed a complex policy question. The cover letter and writing sample should be submitted as additional attachments in the Resume/CV section of your application. Apply here.
