Elaine Ly
Student Research Assistant
Elaine Ly is a summer research assistant at the Knight-Georgetown Institute supporting the team behind a new project examining AI and the future of content markets, an interdisciplinary effort examining how generative AI is transforming the relationship between websites and web crawlers.
Elaine is interested in agentic trust and safety as well as the societal impacts of AI. Prior to KGI, Elaine researched various topics in AI security and embedded security at national labs, and has previously written about technology policy and innovation through the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
She is currently a Ph.D. student at Northeastern University, where she is funded by the NSF PEAR fellowship to study the ethical design and evaluation of digital platforms. She also received her Master’s in Cybersecurity and Bachelor’s in Computer Science at George Washington University, where she was an NSF CyberAICorps Scholar.
