Sarah Chao is a Fritz Family Student Research Fellow at the Knight-Georgetown Institute, where she analyzes the use of empirical evidence in digital platform litigation across district, appellate, and Supreme Court jurisdictions. Her research explores how data-driven methodologies inform judicial reasoning and contribute to the evolving landscape of technology law and policy.

She is a current undergraduate student at Georgetown University, pursuing honors in the Government Department and double minoring in Tech, Ethics, & Society (TES) and Law, Justice, & Society (LJS). She intends to pursue law school after completing her undergraduate degree.

Prior to joining KGI, Sarah worked as a Google Public Policy Fellow. She conducted research on issues at the intersection of technology and law, including privacy, artificial intelligence, online speech, content moderation, antitrust, and digital safety. She is particularly interested in examining how emerging technologies, market competition, and regulatory frameworks interact to shape judicial and legislative approaches to platform governance across the globe.
