Research Assistant

Patricia is a seasoned legal professional with nearly a decade of experience in financial services, including capital markets, fintech and banking regulation, digital asset services (cryptocurrencies, utility tokens and NFTs), blockchain-based financial services, privacy and data protection, AML/CFT, and cross-border transactions. Currently she is an LLM candidate at Georgetown University, specializing in Technology Law & Policy. Patricia has a strong focus on the regulation and implementation of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence in the financial industry. Alongside her studies, Patricia is a research member of the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) and a research assistant of the Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI). Patricia is a qualified attorney in Mexico, holds a Master’s in Science in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. Prior to her studies at Georgetown, Patricia worked at a top-tier law firm at Mexico City and carried out volunteering legal advice through her co-founded nonprofit: Legally Crypto – a blockchain education and gender equality initiative. Patricia plans to sit for the NYC bar exam in July 2025.
