Andrea Dean

Post-Graduate Researcher

Andrea Dean is a Post-Graduate Researcher at the Knight-Georgetown Institute. Her past work bridges engineering and policy, with a focus on AI governance, surveillance, privacy, labor, and the societal implications of technologies.

She has experience as a software developer and engineering manager in the tech industry, leading projects involving computer vision, edge computing, sensor fusion, and privacy-aware infrastructure. She has collaborated with the Algorithmic Justice League and serves on the board of hackNY, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive tech community and empowering the next generation of responsible tech leaders in New York City.

She holds a Master of Law in Technology from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor of the Georgetown Law Technology Review, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Lewis & Clark College.
