KGI welcomes Julie Anne Miranda-Brobeck as Communications Director

In March 2025, KGI welcomed Julie Anne Miranda-Brobeck as Communications Director. Julie Anne leads on KGI’s communications strategy, branding, and media relations.

The Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI) is pleased to welcome Julie Anne Miranda-Brobeck as its Communications Director. In this role, Julie Anne works across KGI’s issue areas – from platform design to public data access and competition policy – and oversees KGI’s communications strategy, branding, media relations, and outreach tactics to reach and engage key tech policy audiences, and to shape how KGI appears in the world.

Julie Anne has over 14 years of experience working across strategic communications and public relations in the US and internationally, with a focus on creating impactful communications strategies and campaigns that help shape public opinion and policy across good governance, anti-corruption, tech accountability, human rights, and climate issues.

Prior to KGI, Julie Anne was Head of US Communications and Global Partnerships at investigative non-profit Global Witness, where she developed creative and impactful communications campaigns, managed top-tier media partnerships, and developed and led the organization’s first-ever global partnerships strategy. Prior to that, she worked at the Transparency International Secretariat in Berlin, Germany, leading communications and campaigns aimed at fighting corruption globally. She has also managed creative actions and virtual and in-person events for various policy-focused organizations. 

Julie Anne served as Editor-in-Chief of two art and culture magazines in Berlin and NYC, and curated acclaimed art exhibitions and events that brought together creatives from various sectors. She holds a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Creative Writing (Poetry Program) from the University of Virginia, and an M.A. in Global Studies from the University of Freiburg in Germany, FLACSO in Buenos Aires, and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
